Lily was “Star of the Week”
today at school and she was very excited about it. We did her poster, her
favorite place to go is the zoo, favorite food is pizza and favorite color is
pink, and she brought the book “Happy Birthday Hamster” to read and Ballerina
Ariel (since she likes to dance), Anna from Frozen (since she loves that movie
and likes to sing its songs), and Minnie Mouse (because she loves her and loves
Disneyland) for her toys.
Both kids have been sick but
Ryan is now starting to act more like himself. He has taken good naps and slept
mostly through the night so that has been a blessing for him and us. It’s so
sad when kids just don’t act themselves when they’re feeling bad. We take for
granted Ryan’s vibrant and energetic and fun personality because he is the
opposite when sick. I will say it was fun to have him just want to sit close
and cuddle or be softly tickled though.
Tonight when Jeff came home
Ryan wanted to be close to Jeff. They sat and watched some soccer, ate ice
cream, and read books. Jeff called out letters or words loudly and
energetically to see if Ryan would copy and he did really well in trying to say
the words. I can’t believe how fast he is growing and learning.
Last night we went over to
some new friends, who are also our neighbors, for a superbowl party. They had
other friends over as well and there was food and we had a good time, though
the Broncos had a very poor showing. I didn’t stay too long because the kids
were tired and when I got home Lily put herself to bed.
I am starting an
accountability “Game Changer” program with Ja. Ben Cook and his friend Clint
started it for themselves and are trying to expand it to see if it helps
others. I am really excited about it because as they described it, it just
helps give you a nudge to do the things you already know and want to be doing.
Even though Ja and I are starting on Wed, I’m already trying to do things that
would count toward my points in my different categories. To me it seems it’s
just helping you to make the most of your day in those small moments of time
and accomplish much.
Lily wasn’t quite ready for
bed tonight so when she saw I was doing laundry she was eager to help. She
alone wanted to put all the clothes in the washer, one by one. Sometimes if
she’d see her favorite article of clothing or panties she’d get excited and
tell me about them. Jeff said we should give her chores at night since she’s
motivated to do them if it means she gets to stay up a little later.
