Tonight we had over Heather
Burnham, who was my roommate with her twin sister Shelley while I attended grad
school, and her fiancé Gordon over for dinner. We had a very nice visit and
they seem very happy together so I’m thrilled for her. They get married next
week in Salt Lake and I’m always happy and amazed when two people find each
other and progress it to the level of marriage. It’s very exciting to think of
what they have in store for them.
I never wrote about my girls
birthday night out last weekend. My friend Kasey, who is also the Primary
President whom I work with, organized a birthday dinner for me. At first I said
I didn’t need one because I feel kind of funny being celebrated, but after
talking with me she convinced me to do it. We went to Biaggi’s, which is an
Italian restaurant, and then to BINGO. I have never played before and it’s a really big deal to some people. I also learned there are lots of different ways to get
Bingo and it can be kind of tricky. Some people have many cards they play with
and they are in the zone when those numbers are being called out. Everyone is
quiet so our table was by far the loudest, but luckily no one told us to quiet
down (apparently that happened last time this group went). Afterward Jeff said it’s just like gambling, which when I thought about
it he’s right, so I guess I won’t be going back again. But in my innocence or
lack of thinking it through it was fun to be with a bunch of girls and have a
fun outing together. This ward does that for a lot of the women and I think
it’s a nice little tradition to have girl nights out.
BINGO!
