Lily has started to love
reading books to Ryan. Sometimes he doesn’t always love it because he wants to
hold the book or wants Jeff or me to read, but she wanted to include him
tonight when she read her princess books so that was nice. She likes reading
“We’re going on a bear hunt” to him and she knows that book pretty well, so
it’s very sweet to see.
Ryan loves being more
independent. This morning he sat at the big table (we have put his booster seat
away since he doesn’t ever want to sit in it) and was thrilled eating his
cereal out of a bowl. I had to help him put it on the spoon sometimes, but he
did a great job.
Last night Lily had hurt Ryan
so she went into timeout. Later I found Rapunzel on the rocking chair and was
told not to move her because she was mean to her sister and in time out.
Lily loves doing her
preschool book and it’s so fun to do with her. I was very impressed at how she
traced the letters and for the most part she can do everything in the book so
far. She loves her letters and loves learning and doing learning activities.
She is also becoming more independent and insists on getting dressed by herself
every morning. She mostly did before, but I had to put her shirt on over her
head, but now she does it by herself. Yesterday I told her how proud I was of
her but today she told me not to tell her how proud I was of her.
The kids went to the doctor
yesterday and Ryan had his 18-month check up. He is 27 pounds 2oz (84%) and 33
inches tall (68%) and head was 19 inches (73%). It was great that Jeff could
come with me to the appointment and the kids were thrilled to see him walk in.
Ryan couldn’t get to him fast enough, he sure loves his daddy. Ryan did so well
at the doctor and just sat very mellow on Jeff’s lap while the doctor checked
everything out. He’s doing great and we don’t really have any concerns so it
was a good visit. I’m SO grateful Ryan is now walking since that was such a concern
of ours before.
Ryan pretty much walks
everywhere he goes now and hardly crawls. It’s great that he is seeing how much
more convenient walking is to crawling. It’s so funny to see his little body
unsteadily walking about, but we are so proud of him and his progress.
I feel like we have done
pretty good for being at home all week due to sickness. The weather has been
frigid (in the negative temperatures and sometimes double digit negative
temperatures) but we made it through and I think the kids are getting better.
They slept really well last night which was a blessing since we were so tired,
but Jeff fixed the heater so we were all warm (as opposed to the house being at
64 degrees the night before), which I was so grateful for. I always get worried
about Ryan being too cold since his bedroom isn’t insulated really well.
