Gymnastics

Today Jeff had to go to work, but it was a day of scraping off wall paper and painting in his new office space so not his traditional work day. I asked if he was ready to paint rooms in our new house (whenever we get one) and he said "no," he wasn't a fan and he kept getting paint on the ceiling.

We had a leisurely morning and then Darin and Rachel came to open gym at the gymnastics center with the kids.

The kids woke up and first thing in the morning they wanted to go outside. The train was parked for awhile but when it got going again Ryan became very scared. He cried hard and when I picked him up through his tears he said, "choo choo!" After a couple minutes he was ready to go  outside again and watch the moving train.
This activity of throwing rocks down the windowsill occupied them for awhile.

Coming to gymnastics was very helpful since I really don't feel like I can go by myself. There are so many opportunities to get hurt that it's hard for me to keep track of the kids. Ryan had some wild bed head hair that I forgot to wet down and several people said they loved it.

Loving the foam pit!
Doing some limbo
He also loves hanging from the bars
Doing great on the balance beam!
And ended with an Olympic quality dismount from the beam to the red carpet
Ryan ran back and forth on this big tramp for quite awhile
Lily loved building towers with Darin
Coming home from gymnastics the kids were exhausted and Ryan slept 3 1/2 hours. I think he was so tired from yesterday's zoo trip and the gym today that he needed a good rest. Darin and Rachel went to visit their friend Alex in Highland's Ranch and then we all met at Cafe Rio for dinner. Lily and Ryan were not in the best mood, but as soon as I told them where we were going and all the people we were going to see their eyes lit up and they got very excited. Ryan is obsessed with the horchata and couldn't get enough of that and then he was just plain wild so I'm not sure if there's a correlation.

Once at home Lily asked Darin to unzip his jacket so she could see Flash (he was wearing a Flash shirt that he had shown her earlier), and that made him very happy. Lily had to get her comic book and point out Flash to him. Darin's a happy uncle who was nice enough to pack his superhero shirts for this trip to make the kids happy, how sweet.
Once the kids went to bed, and they were so tired because Lily came to me telling me she wanted to go to sleep and essentially asked us to put her to bed, we talked with Darin and Rachel for awhile then watched an episode of "Arrested Development," which is Jeff's new favorite show. Overall we had such a wonderful visit with them and were so happy they came and stayed a few days. I love this one on one time and was so grateful to have it so soon after they were married. What a gift these last few days have been!
