Darin and Rachel Visit!

We are so excited to have Darin and Rachel visiting us! Darin is finishing up chiropractic school in Davenport, Iowa and they are moving to Provo, UT where he will complete a preceptorship and then be hired on as an associated in a chiropractic office. They were kind enough to stop through in Colorado so we could spend a couple days with them. I love having one on one time so this has been wonderful. Especially because they just got married in October so it's great spending more time with Rachel.

They got in late last night and luckily said they weren't cold in the cold basement. Thanks to our heated mattress and extra blankets they were okay. We had a late breakfast and relaxed at home a bit and then headed to the zoo.

Jeff had a great time learning some pointers on the guitar from Darin.
It started out a little cool with the breeze but then warmed up wonderfully and we actually all came home with a sunburn! Rachel kept saying how happy she was to see the sun.
Lily and Ryan loved the carousel. Lily chose the zebra and Darin rode next to her on the tiger. She really wanted Ryan to sit next to her on the ostrich and I was a little worried having him up there because he didn't want me holding him at all so he kept trying to move my hands. But luckily once it started he stopped pushing my hands away. I would glance at his face on occasion and he had a huge grin.

Ryan was much more  interested in the carousel than in posing.
Ryan wanted to be on a moving animal next to Lily, but I don't have a picture of that so this is a pre-ostrich happiness photo.
Ryan loves the turtles and kept saying their name which is so cute. Darin and Rachel were so kind to help chase or carry kids which was great since Jeff ended up having to be on the phone for a bit of time for work and any break I get from carrying kids with my big belly is very welcome.
Near the end Jeff bought some popcorn and they just sat in a popcorn mess, ate, and were quite happy about it (they were also very tired as you can tell from Lily).
Overall it was a great day and we got to talk a lot to both Darin and Rachel and the kids enjoyed seeing the animals. I was so happy I had made dinner last night since we all got home exhausted and I just had to pop my dinner in the oven and it was done! Whenever I do make ahead meals I always wish I did that more often.

Ryan was so happy to cuddle with Rachel for a long time after a long and eventful day.
Jeff had a stake basketball game tonight but the other team had to forfeit so Jeff's team just played each other. He had a lot of fun and did pretty well with his shots and running so he had a good time. It also worked out nicely because I had a cub scout committee meeting at the same time but didn't have to miss it since Darin and Rachel were here.
