Happy New Year! Today was a nice relaxing day because Jeff had work off. Last night we didn't stay up late (we are sleep deprived as it is so it didn't sound appealing to sacrifice any more sleep than necessary), but Jeff and I did play cribbage and I had a nice big win :) Jeff got up with the kids because he wanted to watch some soccer games and when I came out of the room Ryan was sitting on the couch next to Jeff watching soccer on the computer with him, it was very cute.
Jeff had taken Lily to see "Frozen" already so I took her today. It was some fun mommy/daughter time and it's great that she's now at an age where we can take her to movies! Ryan took a morning nap, which he NEVER does, so that was his gift to Jeff while we were away. And he took an afternoon nap so we really scored today.
We made a family trek to Target and I think Jeff can now appreciate that if I can ever go to the store by myself then I do....it's a bit wild taking them there. But then we enjoyed a little dinner at IHOP and Ryan wasn't eating much. On the drive home Lily said in an exasperated voice, "Bubba, you are acting crazy! I'm giving you a cookie (animal crackers) and you are throwing it down!" Ahh, the frustration of many a parent Lily.
Today Jeff had his belt out and gave it to Ryan to hold on and he started walking with just one hand! And Jeff said he wasn't holding on to it much. He did it a little later as well and again wasn't holding on tight. The problem is that as soon as he's taken a few steps he's done for a few hours. We know he can do it, he's just not quite motivated to keep trying. He can crawl so fast that I think he prefers the speed he can get.
Ryan is really funny. He loves to play peek a boo around corners or inside Lily's princess tent and just waits with a big smile until you look at him. He climbs from the ottoman to the couch and kneels on the couch arm rest, puts his hands up in the air, waits to get your attention and just smiles and holds his position. Then he dives for the couch cushions with much gusto. He is all boy.
