Baby Shower

The weekend was cold so we didn't want to go out to do much, but we always have fun being together when Jeff is home. Saturday the kids worked so hard helping Jeff with different things.

Lily and Ryan LOVE working on puzzles together. I can't believe what they can do and how hard they work and how patient they are. It's pretty sweet when they just go downstairs and play for awhile. They are best friends and lucky to have each other. Ryan told me Max isn't really easy to play with because he throws things at you when you don't know it. I told him that as Max gets older he will be easier to play with I'm sure :)

I didn't think I'd want a baby shower and was very resistant to it, but Kari Murray held one for me and it was so nice. I had actually prayed she would forget about offering to give me one. I tend to worry about not inviting everyone because I don't want anyone to feel bad, but this time I just invited people I was close to. It was so nice to have people there that I love seeing and talking to. It was nice to feel celebrated and loved and to get some warm baby clothes and other things which I did not have. So it was something that I didn't even know I needed. And the kids did great playing downstairs, so I was able to really enjoy my time visiting.

We went swimming on Saturday. It was so nice to have Jeff there because I didn't have to get in the pool! I was able to visit with friends and talk with Nicole on the phone. Ryan told me he likes it better when daddy takes him to the pool because they jump to him. I have known all along Jeff was more fun so I agree with him, but in the end Ryan conceded that he'd rather have me still take him even if Jeff isn't there, but it's definitely preferable to have him there.  Life is always more fun with daddy around for the kids and me. We can't wait until we get him home for five weeks after his next trip, we love having him with us. The kids helped Jeff clean the downstairs. Ryan became a master paper shredder and he had so much fun taking staples out that Jeff stapled the border of some papers and Ryan was in heaven working on that for awhile.

The kids worked really hard and wanted to get some toys with their Christmas money from Granny Dot and Papa. Ryan has been staring at this Target magazine for weeks now dreaming of getting a hulk crusher. His dream finally came true at Wal-Mart and he was thrilled. Max got some new shoes and a new ball (that's always his choice of toy) and Lily was very torn between getting a camera and a Poppy zip-it bed. But in the end she chose the bedding and has been thrilled to be able to make her bed easier and to see so much Poppy before she goes to sleep.
