Move to Northern Colorado

Jeff’ Job and Promotion
Jeff really enjoyed his job at Boulder. It was fun being close to his dad and occasionally they’d meet for lunch and he loved just being in the town of Boulder with all of its quirkiness. After only working there a few months, the census at his building was going through the roof and people were really impressed. Plus, he had gone to a training in Atlanta for new hires and was given the nickname “Rockstar” because of his impressive showing there. Just after the new year he got an opportunity to be promoted as a regional sales manager to the northern Colorado market. Before this I should add that there was an opening for RSM in the Denver market that he was not even considered for, which was a bit upsetting. However, now that he has his market and compares it with the Denver market he is SO, so grateful it turned out the way it did. We are also grateful because we were thinking of buying a home in Westminster once the house sold (it was originally going to be sold in November), but thankfully Rod didn’t put it on the market until after the new year so we could know that we needed to relocate closer to Jeff’s work. As much as we would have loved being closer to the Baers, it would have been a challenging commute for Jeff.

The next question was where to move. We were not familiar with the area of northern Colorado at all, except for where Jeff had been for work, so we didn’t know what would be best for our family. Greeley has a college there, but it smells like manure a lot of the time so it’s literally a stinky place. Fort Collins is nice but some parts of it (the parts we could afford) were still far away from places where Jeff would need to go for work. We spent several weekends looking (by the way, looking for places to live is the worst) and I honestly just thought Jeff would have to commute because I didn’t really see ourselves out in these small towns. Jeff said Windsor would be the ideal location since it would be a midpoint, but he didn’t think I’d like it because it is SO small. However, as we drove through it one day I fell in love and decided I’d like to live here. We looked at one home, weren’t impressed and I just kept looking online. The next week we found the perfect place for us in a cute little community and we knew right away this was the perfect fit. Three days after we found our rental, Jeff’s grandfather’s house sold. Talk about a huge relief to know we had a place to live since we’d have to be out in 30 days. Again, the Lord was and is taking care of us and I honestly don’t know how we could do it without his help.
